The Music of the Olympics

Previous Olympic games have never interested me, but I’ve had a ton of fun watching the the XXX Olympic Games. Watching the athletes break world records, set personal bests, and overcome adversity has really put a step in my work outs. But the most memorable thing about the XXX Games for me has been the music. It’s amazing what a good tune will do to make you feel good and even push you harder during a work out. Here are my favorite tunes played during the broadcast of the Olympic games:

1. “All Around the World” – Justin Bieber

2. “The Fighter” – Gym Class Heroes featuring Ryan Tedder Tribute

3.  “Anywhere in the World” – Mark Ronson & Katy B

4. “What Makes You Beautiful” – One Direction

5. “Wannabe” – Spice Girls

6. “Wonderwall” – Oasis

7.  “Fashion” – David Bowie

8. “We Will Rock You” – Queen

9. “Freedom! ’90” – George Michael

10. “Imagine” – John Lennon

  • Agreed! The music during the closing ceremony was fantastic. I also think that the connection between music and performance in most sports is undeniable. While I don’t listen to music while I run (safety first), music can definitely give you an extra boost of energy and help you focus!

    • Lisa – I stopped listening to music when running a while ago too! I much rather prefer the sound of my feet hitting the pavement, and listening to my breathing…but when lifting weights and such, I’ll take the music over the grunts of the muscle men at my gym 🙂

  • I also loved “Home” by Phillip Phillips, the song they played during all the gymnastics promos. Or, at least, I did until I found out dude was an American Idol winner. 😛

    • I unfortunately am not a Phillip Phillips fan thus I did not include the song. Jessica should’ve won 🙂

      • See, I had no idea who Phillip Phillips was! Ah, the blessing and the curse of never having watched American Idol…
