WHAT TO EAT THIS MONTH: Fruits and Vegetables of September

Eat local and eat produce that’s in season. Not only is it good for your body, but also eating fruits and vegetables in season means more money saved, more nutrients, more flavor, and more variety. I can’t believe it’s already September. Many of you said goodbye to August, some of you sent your kids back to school this week, and if you’re like me you’re already dreaming of next Summer. One of the things I love about September is that it’s the month of “new” without all the hoopla. New season. New school. New clothes. So try a new fruit or vegetable. Here’s what to eat this September.

What are you most looking forward to this month?

  • I LOVE the taco idea – sweet potato and pomegranate?! Will definitely have to give that a try.

    We’ve been finding some great green beans at our farmers market – so easy to throw in a skillet with a little olive oil and cracked pepper – 5 minutes later they’re done! I like them best when they’re still a bit crunchy. I’m definitely looking forward to apple season and some good butternut squash.

    • @Lisa_earlymorningrun:disqus – I love green beans. I usually do the same and toss them with chopped garlic. That’s really my go-to for any vegetable…sautee with oil and garlic. Going to need to jazz it up a little.

      Macintosh apples also remind me of races. They really are perfect after running 4+ miles.
