FINDING YOUR PERFECT YOGA PANT (That’s Fit)

I’m willing to bet that each of you has at least one pair of black yoga pants in your closet…or at least something that resembles the black, stretchy staple. The days of the standard yoga pant are gone. Not all yoga pants are created equal and there are a variety of brands and styles to choose from to fit your body type and fitness style. Like many of you, I practically live in yoga pants on the weekends so I at least try to find something that translates to “street gear” fairly easily. If I had all the money in the world, I’d buy all my yoga pants from Lululemon. But I find that the Nike Dri-Fit Be Strong Training Pant is just as good. What’s your favorite yoga pant?

A BETTER WAY TO SERVE EGGS (New York Times)

Breakfast/brunch is not the same for me without eggs. While many avoid eggs because they think the cholesterol is bad for you, there are mixed reports out there….something the New York Times addresses too. Eating eggs in the morning tend to stabilize my blood sugar, keep my metabolism in check, and stave off hunger until lunch time. Usually it also ensures that I get SOME veggies in my diet in the morning too. I love adding frozen or fresh spinach, leeks, and/or mushrooms in my scrambled eggs or omelets. The New York Times obviously read my mind and knew I was bored with my eggs and suggests making frittatas instead.

I’m embarassed to admit that I like Kim Kardashian. I’m embarassed because the girl jump started her career with a sex tape and she’s famous for being famous. Many think she and her sisters are entitled, over the top, and do nothing but consume. But besides all that, I appreciate their beauty in the sea of skinny blondes in Hollywood. I truly believe that if it weren’t for the personal trainer, dietician, and fame, Kim would be fat. And I mean that in the nicest way possible!!! Have you seen what the girl eats on her show “Kourtney & Kim Take New York?” (BTW, I thoroughly enjoy watching the show when I run on the treadmill at the gym – it makes the time go faster.) There’s no way she could maintain a decent figure with the crap she puts in her mouth! Enter Gunnar Peterson who is responsible for the lean bodies of Jennifer Lopez, Katy Perry and more.

POOR EATING HABITS MAY LEAD TO ANEMIA IN OLDER WOMEN (Bloomberg Business Week)

Do you ever read articles or hear the results of recent health studies and think, “DUH!!!”? This article was exactly that for me this week. Anemia is an iron deficiency…so not getting enough nutrients would mean that you’re deficient… Am I wrong? And if food is fuel and you don’t get enough of it, isn’t it common sense that your body wouldn’t run properly?
