siggi’s yogurt

Day 11 of 12 of My Favorite Things. I recently was invited to a siggi’s yogurt tasting and workout – of course I said yes! siggi’s is one of two brands of yogurt that I will eat. Why? siggi’s Icelandic style yogurt, or skyr, is just as thick as Greek yogurt (if not thicker), extremely creamy, high in protein, and is low in sugar. If you’re a person who thinks plain yogurt tastes like sour cream, then siggi’s is for you. You can have flavored yogurt and be healthy because siggi’s flavored yogurt has half the sugar of other flavored yogurts. Today I’m giving away a month’s supply of siggi’s yogurt, so you can fuel your body right in 2015. You can even recreate these coconut and date protein balls that I tried at the siege’s yogurt tasting.

Coconut and Date Nut Protein Balls recipe

Siggi’s Coconut and Date Nut Protein Balls

1 cup Medjool Dates, chopped (about 12-13 large dates)
1 cup raw cashews
1/4 cup hemp seeds, hulled
1/4 cup chia seeds
1/2 cup almond meal
1/4 tsp fine sea salt
1/2 cup shredded unsweetened coconut plus more for rolling
1/4 cup siggi’s Vanilla 0% Skyr yogurt (I used the plain, which has more protein that plain Greek yogurt)

Combine all ingredients in a food processor and blend to desired consistency. Blend less for a crunchier protein ball.

When desired consistency is reached, form 1oz balls then roll in the shredded coconut to coat.

Store in the refrigerator and enjoy as a quick snack. Each protein ball is 60 calories.

    I stir in frozen blueberries to make instant frozen yogurt. The key is to stir constantly so the frozen texture is smooth. The transformation is quick and like magic!
