One thing about New York City living that you should know is that New Yorkers HATE going to Times Square. We’d much rather sit in a subway car that smells like urine. However, Tuesday night I was invited to test the new Puma Ignite shoe before it hits stores next month and I couldn’t pass up the opport

The Puma Ignite is their most responsive foam shoe to date. They’re sleek in design, light-weight, and comfortable. I especially loved the deep blue and peach color combo. In the Times Square lights, I thought it was pink and purple. In college I used to own Pumas and didn’t like how unsupportive they were. Unlike my college sneakers, these Puma Ignite provided instant bounce when I put them on.

Runners like myself took turns running on treadmills fueling the energy to IGNITE NYC. I contributed two miles and I could tell that the Ignite ForEverFoam reduced shock to my heels. When I run, I strike my heel first (which you’re not supposed to do) so anything that helps alleviate that pain is always greatly appreciated!

Once 100% of the goal energy and mileage was collected, Usain Bolt, the fastest man on the planet and Puma athlete, made a surprise appearance. I’m not on one who particularly ooh’s and ahh’s at the site of a celebrities, but pro runners and athletes blow me away. Usain Bolt holds the world record for running the fastest 100 and 200 meter sprints. Bolt’s 100 meter record was set in 2009 and he ran it at 9.58 seconds, which translates to 23.3 miles per hour. Wowza!

I will never forget having this opportunity to run in Times Square. I felt like a rock star running on the world’s stage to amazing tunes spun by Hannah Bronfman (a social media celeb in her own right). For one night, I checked my disdain for Times Square and was reminded why I love this city so much. NYC is adventurous, bold, and electric…just like the Puma Ignite.

The Puma Ignite aren’t available until March, but you can pre-order and take yours for a 30-day test run starting February 26.

    • @disqus_OAEwoiy7gb:disqus – The only other time you can ostensibly run in Times Square is during the NYC Half. Very cool, indeed. And I really like the look too. Definitely more run to street chic than other shoes.

    • @disqus_hl6aWUqyUX:disqus – yes! it was quite electric. I have to admit that I didn’t want to have a great time because I was in Times Square, but I did. Even a grumpy New Yorker like me can have a good time 🙂
