Stepping Out with Oakley

I’m one to judge things very quickly. I know almost instantly whether I like something or not. When I received these pants, they impulsively went into my “do not wear” pile in my brain. I’m honestly not sure what changed my mind, but I tried them on (balancing with a muted top, of course) and instantly fell in love with them. They instantly brightened my day and put some pep in my step.

Life lessons can be found in the strangest of places sometimes. Sometimes, I find inspiration during a run. Other times, like today, I find wisdom in a pair of workout pants. Today, I’m reminded that nothing in life changes if I don’t step out of my comfort zone. Not only should I try new and different things, but also things I prejudged and filed as things-I-know-I-won’t-like. Whether that “thing” is these bright Oakley printed capris, a new work out, a crazy job, a new lipstick color, try it. You have to try things out of the norm in order to discover better and the best.

Life is too short to be living on auto-pilot. We need to step out on faith, explore, try (and fail) and sometimes scrape our knees in order to find that great adventure. It’s how we grow, change, and blossom. And one day, later in life, I will look back and think, “you lived a full and grand life, G.”

  • Oh, but bright prints look so fantastic on you! I absolutely agree with you on the power of great workout apparel. Sometimes I have trouble getting up to go to the gym, but when I remember the cute outfit I laid out the night before it helps motivate me to turn on the light, get out of bed, and go! It’s the little and ordinary things sometimes.

    • @Lisa_earlymorningrun:disqus – it’s amazing how a cute workout outfit can motivate us to go to the gym. Whatever it takes, right?
