Oakley Mini 10K
Running is one of my all-time favorite things to do. However, running with other people tops the cake, especially when it’s with a team. I was invited to run the Oakley Mini 10k with the Oakley Team. I was already signed up and looking forward to the race, so I jumped at the chance to run with the brand’s professional athletes.
To my delight, Meaghan from The Fit Crasher was also invited to run the race with Team Oakley so we caught up on our new-ish jobs and blogging at the start.
Don’t be fooled, there is nothing mini about this race. The race is a full 10k but because it’s a women’s race, the mini refers to mini-skirts. The air was humid, the roads congested, and my legs felt heavy but all-in-all I powered through it and crossed the finish strong. It was a finish line sprint worthy of a medal and brunch with the Oakley team.
While I’m no means as fast as the professionals, running races is exhilarating. There’s something exciting about being in a crowd with other runners and competing not only with your neighbor, but most importantly yourself. I’m reminded that running MY best race is what motivates me. It’s what propels me to get back out there, work hard, push through the tough parts, and make change happen. It’s what makes the medal at the finish all the more worthwhile. There’s victory at the finish.
