GARMIN VÍVOFIT FITNESS BAND

Day 7 of 12 Days of My Favorite Things Giveaway: the Garmin Vívofit Fitness Band. It’s amazing how far technology has come when it comes to fitness. Like the iPhone, I often wonder what people did without smart devices. How did people monitor mileage they ran? Or distance they walked? Or calories burned off? Today, there are so many gadgets out there that will help us achieve our fitness goals. If you find the surplus of fitness bands overwhelming like me, enter to win today’s favorite thing, the Garmin Vīvofit. Not only does it track your steps, monitor heart rate (with a chest strap), but it will remind you to move! We all know that prolonged periods of inactivity (thanks to sitting at office desks for 8+ hours per day) decreases fat burn and slows the metabolism. The Garmin Vívofit notices when you haven’t moved in a while and reminds you to get (your butt) up! HOW AMAZING IS THAT? And that is why it’s today’s favorite thing.

Oh, I forgot to answer the question. I get my steps in by walking to work and walking everywhere!

  • I park waaay in the back when I go anywhere. Fewer dings on my car + more steps? Not so bad! I also take the stairs a lot.

I walk from plant to plant here at work, instead of riding a golf car

Walking everywhere and always taking stairs – even parking far away than needed when I go places. 🙂

I NEVER TAKE THE ELEVATOR AND RUN DOWN THEM FULL SPEED AND ALTHOUGH THERE IS AN OPTION TO TAKE ANOTHER ELEVATOR WHEN MY ELEVATOR TO MY WING OF MY BUILDING IS NOT WORKING I WILL CLIMB THE 6 FLIGHTS… I CHOOSE TO WALK TO MY CLIENTS INSTEAD OF TAKING THE BUS OR TRAIN… SOME LOCATIONS ARE AN HOUR EACH WAY BUT I GET MY STEPS IN AND SAVE TRANSPORTATION MONEY 🙂

  • Justine

I don’t own a car so I walk everywhere. Sometimes it’s faster to walk than it is to wait for the bus or subway, especially if the bus has an infrequent schedule or if it’s not running on time.

  • Kellie

I park at the back of the parking lot at work to get in some extra exercise!

People are always surprised here in LA when I prefer to walk to places. I park further away and walk to the stores that are only a few blocks away. I also converted my desk at work into a standing desk and always walk to the bathrooms on the other side of the building.

I walk my son to the neighborhood playground for extra steps. Bonus steps while he’s playing too!

  • Miranda Lewis

I walk to lunch and park further away from my destination.

  • Jordan Dunne

I walk anywhere that is within a mile of my house or car, depending on weather and time. I also go to the gym at least 5 days a week when possible and always take the stairs!

  • Kendall Nations

I get my steps in by running to bootcamp one mile away with my son in his stroller 3 times per week. I also walk our two dogs at least a mile everyday so everyone in the family stays fit! I’d love to keep track of my steps and continue to stay motivated and encouraged.

  • Renee Harper

I’m working to increase my steps – goal is to get back in the gym. But for now, parking further away and taking the stairs are helping. All of those steps add up!

I live in Chicago walk quite a bit. Only bought my first car a few days ago, and I’m 32!

I work in DC so I walk and subway to work. If you’ve ever been here you know that our subways are super deep underground, so the stairs/escalators are quite ridiculous. When I don’t have time for the gym and need to get steps in, I walk all of them up. 🙂 SO challenging, always out of breath by the top.

I try to take the stairs as much as possible and I go for a jog at least 4-5 days a week.

Since moving our offices, I’ve over doubled the amount of steps I take in a day! During the weekends, I will walk places for errands instead of the train. It certainly makes a difference!

If the weather cooperates, I take walk outsides to clear my mind. Sometimes if the weather is bad I set up a walking date where me and my bf will just walk on the treadmills at the gym and talk. I am also forced to take the stairs everyday–i live in a walk up lol

I walk laps around my house to get to 10,000 if I am short. The night of NYCM, I had 68,500. I was only 1,500 from the 70k club (sad face). I had no idea it was that close because my tracker doesn’t show steps, just ranges of how far I am from 10k..

I always park far away and I take stairs instead of elevators. If I use an escalator, I walk up the steps instead of waiting.

I walk whenever I can and always take the stairs. I also park far from the store so I can get some steps in that way. Thanks for the chance, justicecw@hotmail.com

I always park far away when I go to the mall or grocery store:)

We have a trail across the street that I walk after work. I try to walk on my breaks at work also- especially since I’m sitting 8 hours a day!

  • I always try to take the stairs (unless I’m sore from the workout the day before)!

  • Susan Devaux

    I never take elevators

  • I try to walk as much as possible during the day but I exercise as well. The NTC workouts (Nike Training Club) are my go-to workouts because I can easily access them on my iPhone.

Taking the stairs is what I try to do also but if the building is 20+ floors up, then I most likely will take the elevator since that is more convenient.

    Thanks for this giveaway.
